Okisollo's canvas was looking a bit tired so we decided that we'd replace before going north next year.It also seemed that the previous users never went sailing, because the old covers were impossibly in the way every time we wanted to use winch handle or hold on to something when heeling over.
When we inquired with several local manufacturers, we were quoted a 9-12 mos waiting period. That wasn't going to work. And, I do enjoy a good sewing challenge. There is no 'pattern' to follow or 'instructions'.There is no sail loft -- just my converted living room. Some trial and error, blood, sweat and thankfully no tears.Much thanks to the Sailrite.com website, that i've spent more time with than Dan in the last few weeks.I'm learning so much. And getting some new 'cool tools' in the process.
I think I'm about 50% of the way through the project. The Bimini, the extension to enclose up to the hard dodger, the aft side panels are pretty much done. The front windows are almost done. There is so much binding, finishing work, zippers. But each day it gets easier.I've only had to use the seam ripper twice. Excited to share the finish project.Finger's crossed that it will look ok!
